About San Jose

San Jose was officially founded in 1777, though it was originally known under a longer, more complicated name. Today it is simply known as San Jose and is a part of the region popularly termed Silicon Valley. Since it sits further away from the beach and is almost surrounded by high mountains, the area tends to be hotter and much dryer than other areas of the state. For this reason, the city is known for its desert-like qualities.

Yet, visiting San Jose is nothing what may be expected. There are a variety of amusements that bring in many visitors from all over throughout all seasons of the year. From thrilling go kart race facilities to a rich arts and entertainment culture, there is something for everyone to do here.

One of the most popular attractions is the Paramount Great America theme park. It is a great place for families traveling with children, but there is plenty for adults to do as well. From golf courses and luxuries day spas to some nice shopping destinations, most people will find something to pass the time.

Also, there are many state parks located in or around the city limits. These parks offer beauty sites for relaxation and adventure for local residents, but are visited often by travelers as well.

Many people who visit San Jose are looking to get away from the colder, snow-covered regions of the country during the winter months. Since it is typically warm and dry most of the year it is a nice winter getaway that is usually not overrun with tourists.
